Developed by Hotta Studio, Tower of Fantasy is a free-to-play gacha game with a huge open-world for players to explore. It does feature a lot of familiar mechanics from other gacha games, like equipment sets with set bonuses, which is exactly what Matrices are.

Upgrading Matrices in Tower of Fantasy

Upon hitting level 20, you’ll unlock Matrices that can be affixed to your weapons. Think of these as Relics from Genshin Impact, where equipping them can help to boost your stats. And if you equip four of them from the same Matrix set, you’ll even get a set bonus. Because of that, it’s recommended that you try to go for those set bonuses, especially early on, as that will give you a serious power boost.

To upgrade your Matrices, hit Esc to bring up the menu, then select Weapons. From here, click on Matrices, select the specific Matrix you want to upgrade, then hit the Develop button in the bottom right corner of the screen.

You’ll then need to use Matrix Data Packs to upgrade them and increase their level. The good news is that Matrix Data Packs are pretty easy to obtain in the game. You’ll find them from looting chests, clearing Ruins, and as rewards for progressing in the story and other quests. We do advise against spreading yourself too thin, though, as you’ll run out of these leveling materials very quickly if you try upgrading every single Matrix.

Once you’ve selected your leveling materials, click on Enhance, and you’re all good to go. You’ll be able to increase the level cap on your Matrices as your Wanderer level goes up.

That’s all you need to know about how to upgrade Matrices in Tower of Fantasy. Be sure to search for Twinfinite for more tips and information on the game, including our reroll guide and a full breakdown of the gacha system and its various currencies.
