Tokyo Mirage Sessions Encore Radiant and Carnage Unity Explained

The terms Radiant Unity and Carnage Unity may sound daunting at first, but they’re actually representative of pretty basic things in the RPG genre. Namely, Radiant Unities are permanent skills you can get for your characters, while Carnage Unities are basically just weapons.

Let’s break them down and explain how they work in the game.

Carnage Unity

This is probably the easier one to understand; a Carnage Unity is basically just a weapon that you can equip to your characters. About partway through the first chapter, you’ll meet Tiki at the Bloom Palace, and she’ll inform you that Carnage Unity is now available.

Basically, once you have collected the required materials, you can go to Tiki, select the Carnage option, then create a new Carnage Unity. These are weapons that can be equipped, and the further you get in the game, the higher their attack power values will be.

In addition to that, each Unity also comes with a set of new skills that your character can learn. As you participate in more battles and gain experience, your weapon mastery for your currently equipped Carnage Unity will also increase. As it increases, you gain the opportunity to learn new skills.

Once the weapon mastery for a Unity is maxed out, it’s recommended that you try to forge a new one and equip that for new skills to learn. However, do be warned that each Carnage Unity comes with different affinities and weaknesses, and will change a character’s elemental strengths and weaknesses as well, so keep an eye on those.

The materials you need to forge Unities can usually be found by defeating enemies in dungeons and acquiring Performa.

As for Radiant Unity, these are usually permanent skills or stat boosts you can get for your characters. Activating them is basically the same process as Carnage Unities –you’ll talk to Tiki in the Bloom Palace to forge a new one once you have the required materials.

Some Radiant Unities are compulsory for story advancement, but most are optional. Still, since there isn’t really a hard limit to how many you can get, there’s no harm in going for them all.

Some Radiant Unities are just simple stat boosts like EP or HP increases, but some can only be unlocked through side stories, and can give you access to Ad-Libs and Duo Arts.

That’s basically all you need to know about how the Radiant and Carnage Unity system works in Tokyo Mirage Sessions FE Encore. Be sure to search for Twinfinite or check our guide wiki for more tips and information on the game.
