Sucker Punch’s latest PS4 blockbuster, Ghost of Tsushima, is a fantastic game that has a huge open-world setting with tons to see and do. If you’ve already cleared up the main story and are still looking for reasons to return to it, here are some things you can do after beating Ghost of Tsushima.

Liberate the Island Once & For All

Ok, so this one is a bit obvious, but if you’ve not completely liberated Tsushima then you’re basically leaving the island at the mercy of the invading Mongols, which Jin certainly wouldn’t approve of!

Besides, clearing camps are a way to further experiment with the game’s awesome combat system, increase your Legend if you’re working toward a completionist playthrough, and check out more items for upgrading your weapons and armor.

Complete Side Quests

Again, captain obvious, right? But honestly, there’s a very good chance you’ve missed out on some of Ghost of Tsushima’s best quests if you more or less beelined the main story during your playthrough. Make sure you go back and do these optional adventures, which actually feature some of the best storytelling and dialog interactions in the entire game.

Quite apart from the additional story content, the blue-colored marks on the map indicate Mythic Tales, many of which unlock all sorts of combat abilities and perks you might have missed.

Mess Around with the Photo Mode

Ghost of Tsushima has an excellent photo mode –probably one of the best I’ve ever seen. You can instantly change up the weather in the background, add a variety of particle effects, and there are tons of other options available for you to create the most stunning photos.

I’m someone who never cares much about in-game photo modes, but this is one you need to try out for yourself.

You can use the photo mode by pressing the right button on the directional pad, which can be used during battle as well. Try it out and see if you can capture some incredible gameplay moments.

Just being able to open up the photo feature without having to open up other menus is a godsend. And it also makes it way more accessible and easy to use during any given moment while you’re exploring the island.

Find All the Sword Kits

If you ever grow tired of having the same old design on your blade, hoofing it over to these Pillars of Honor is definitely recommended.

Each one you encounter will have a shiny new kit for your sword just lying there ready for the taking. We don’t know who left those there but take them all if you want stylish options Jin Sakai’s weapon of choice.

You can set the guiding wind to find vanity items with the right upgrade, located in the Techniques tab.

Find the Hidden Altars

There aren’t too many secrets in Ghost of Tsushima, but the hidden altars are certainly one of them. You can find these Hidden Altars all around the island of Tsushima and what you want to do at these spots is slide down on the touchpad to make Jin bow and pray.

There’s even a trophy tied to bowing at ten of the locations, which is called “Honor the Unseen”, but there are actually way more than that. If you want to quickly knock ten of these off your list, we have a guide that’ll help you out.

Find Those Crickets

crickets,

There are 20 somewhat hidden crickets for you to find in Ghost of Tsushima and for every five crickets you obtain, Jin will gain additional songs to play on his trusty ol’ flute. During our review playthrough of the game we only unlocked two of the tunes, so we’re betting that many other players probably haven’t taken the time to track down the others, either.

So why would you bother? Well, Jin’s tunes aren’t just for chilling and fluting. You can change the weather like some sort of magical samurai weatherman. He’ll gain the ability to change the weather condition to rainy, stormy, or foggy as well. It’s not especially useful in terms of gameplay but it’s fun to play around with.

Find The Black and White Dye Merchants

You’ll find a lot of merchants in Ghost o Tsushima that’ll sell you different colored dyes in exchange for flowers, but there two rather special ones you may not have stumbled across.

There’s a white dye merchant and black dye merchants are the only way to turn Jin’s outfits either ghostly black or holy white. If you want more info on where to find them, you can check out our guide for the white merchant here and the black merchant here.

Go for That Platinum Trophy

There are a lot of games on PS4 that require hundreds and hundreds of gameplay time in order to acquire that coveted Platinum trophy. If you want something to show off to your friends on social media, Ghost of Tsushima’s Platinum is really not that difficult, especially if you’ve already completed the main story.

The developers have put together a very fine trophy list here. There are no missable trophies, there are no difficulty trophies, and the game even rewards you with a new dye for Platinuming it, which is always nice to see!

You need to liberate all of the Mongol-infested camps, complete all of the side activities and side quests, and there are also some artifacts that you need to find.

It’s pretty simple to get most of the trophies without having to look anything up, but there are a couple others that require a bit more research.

The Cooper Clan Cosplayer, for example, makes you find five pieces of Sly Cooper armor around the map, but you can use this guide to help you with that.

Dirge of the Fallen Forge is another tricky one that requires you to play “Lament of the Storm” over at Taka’s Grave. You can unlock the song for your flute by collecting five crickets.

And then you have All in the Wrist, which is a trophy that is obtained by defeating the maximum amount of enemies within a single standoff. This is done by fully upgrading Jin’s standoff streak skill and also upgrading the Sakai Clan armor. You can find more info here.

And those are just some of the things you can do after beating Ghost of Tsushima.
