The first step, of course, is placing whichever enemy you want to alter on your level, whether that’s a Koopa or a Goomba. To place an enemy select the magnifying glass on the top right of the screen to go to the items menu, then select the green options at the top, and whichever enemy you want.

Now that you’ve placed an enemy put your cursor on them and then press and hold. This will bring up a small pop-up menu with a number of icon options. Each one will add a different effect to that specific enemy

So if you’re selecting a Koopa, the first option will change their color to a red Koopa, the second gives them a growth mushroom and doubles their size, the third adds wings, and the fourth gives them a parachute. If you want to undo the change, simply tap whichever icon you had select to de-select it.

This little feature helps you add even more variety and challenge to your levels, so make sure to use it whenever you can.

That’s everything you need to know about how to create alternate enemies in Super Mario Maker 2. For even more tips, tricks, and guides make sure to search Twinfinite, or check out a few other helpful ones down below.
