How to Change Home Bases in State of Decay 2

Recommended Videos

Your home base is your main point of operations in State of Decay 2. You keep all your resources here, you can build facilities to help prepare you better for the undead roaming around the world, and your characters will rest and recover from their expeditions here, too. While the first place you find is good for getting started, you’ll eventually want to change bases to accommodate your growing community. Here’s what you need to know to change home bases in State of Decay 2.

There are a couple of ways to change home bases, but we’ll run you through them all. The first is to simply look out for them on your map. Once you’ve surveyed the local area from a viewpoint (marked with binoculars on your map) you’ll now have a bunch of new places of interest marked on your map. Home bases on your map are marked with a Fort/Castle-looking icon, and highlighting them will give you a rundown of all the facilities and open slots available there. It’ll also let you know what it takes to change home bases to this in State of Decay 2. So, for example, a lot of them require a hefty amount of Influence and at least five Survivors to get things started.

Once you’ve got the Influence and Survivors together to change home bases in State of Decay 2, you’ll then need to head there and clear it of any zombies by searching every room. Do this, and interact with the icon by pressing Y to claim it for yourself.

If you’re struggling to find somewhere you’d be happy changing home bases to in State of Decay 2, you can always request help via your radio by pressing up on the d-pad. This will require you to spend some Influence, which isn’t ideal when you’ve got to drop 1,000 or so of the stuff on changing home bases, but if you’ve got the spare cash and can’t risk venturing out and finding a new base for yourself, this is always an option. It’ll reveal a new base location on your map, but you’ll still need to head there to clear it out and claim it as your own in State of Decay 2.

That’s all you need to know about changing home bases in State of Decay 2. However, do keep in mind that moving to a new one will have your community of survivors abandon the old one, so make sure it’s definitely an upgrade you’re happy with before spending all that Influence.
