There are only a few ways to obtain them, and each of those ways have fairly low odds. Because they appear so infrequently, you’ll want to know the best methods of obtaining them so that you won’t waste too much time searching. Here’s everything you need to know about how to get Prismatic Shards in Stardew Valley.

How to Get Prismatic Shards in Stardew Valley

There are quite a number of ways to obtain Prismatic Shards, but the majority of the ways have extremely low odds. We’ll cover every method, but we’ll start with the best ways that give you the highest chance of getting them.

Your best shot at scoring a Prismatic Shard is to collect Mystic Stones. These are stones with a swirl pattern on them that have a 25% chance of yielding a Prismatic Shard when taken to the blacksmith. It’s the highest drop rate for the shards in the game, but the catch is that Mystic Stones can only be found on levels 100-200 in the mines, as well as rarely in the Skull Cavern and the quarry.

Additionally, if you are able to find Iridium Nodes in the Skull Cavern, quarry, or volcano dungeon, those yield a 4% chance of producing a Prismatic Shard. Also, you have a 4% chance of encountering a treasure room in the Skull Caverns at level 10+ that contain a Prismatic Shard. While this 4% chance sounds very low, these odds can be increased on lucky days, and is still somehow one of the best ways to find the shards.

A difficult but consistent way to obtain Prismatic Shards is to work towards the Statue of True Perfection, which yields one shard guaranteed every single day. However, this is an extremely late-game option, as you need to reach 100% Perfection and interact with the perfection tracker on Ginger Island to obtain the statue. This basically involves 100%ing the game by collecting everything and maxing out every stat.

There are a few other ways to find these shards, but the odds are very low. Nonetheless, here are some other methods: there is a 0.4% chance of finding one in an Omni Geode, a 0.1% chance drop from serpents and mummies, and a 0.05% chance drop from enemies after you’ve reached the bottom of the mines.

Finally, there is one guaranteed drop, but it only happens once: there is a Prismatic Shard in a chest at the top of the Volcano Dungeon the first time you arrive there.

As you can see, while there are many ways to find these elusive shards in Stardew Valley, each of them have pretty low drop rates, making them quite rare.
