Turning Off Motion Controls in Splatoon 2

Recommended Videos

Motion controls are turned on by default in Splatoon 2, allowing you to tilt your Switch or controller to aim your gun. However, if you want to turn off motion controls and play the game as a more traditional third-person shooter, you can do so.

First, finish off the tutorial at the start of the game. Once you gain control of your character while in the main hub, bring up your menu by pressing the X button. You’ll see menu tabs for both handheld mode and TV mode. Go to the mode you’re playing in, and turn off the motion controls from there. You can disable the controls for all modes of gameplay permanently so you won’t have to fiddle with them again. With these turned off, you’ll be able to aim your gun with the right analog stick and shoot with ZR.

For those who do enjoy playing with motion controls, you can also adjust the sensitivity from the same menu tabs. Feel free to adjust them to whatever suits your preferences.

More About Splatoon 2

Splatoon 2 is the follow-up to Splatoon, the inky shooter game released on the Wii U two years ago. Take control of a kid, splat your enemies with ink, and transform into a squid whenever you feel like it.
