How to Get Ornamental Skulls in The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD

Luckily, Ornamental Skulls are one of the easiest treasures to find in the game. It’s a good thing they are easy to find because you will need many of them in order to get all of the best gear upgrades the game has to offer.

Ornamental Skulls are dropped somewhat commonly after defeating Bokoblins. You can find this enemy to defeat in several locations throughout the game, such as commonly in the Faron Woods, Eldin Volcano, and the Skyview Temple.

We recommend starting at the top of Eldin Volcano near the dungeon entrance, defeating the Bokoblins in the camp right next to it, and working your way down the mountain where more are waiting to be defeated. You should be able to get at least a few by doing this.

We also suggest carrying a Treasure Medal in your adventure pouch while defeating Bokoblins because this will increase the chance of a treasure dropping from the enemy.

These skulls are used in a wide variety of gear upgrades. Here are all of the upgrades that require Ornamental Skulls, and the number of skulls needed in parentheses:

  • Braced Shield (1)
  • Reinforced Shield (2)
  • Divine Shield (3)
  • Medium Seed Satchel (3)
  • Medium Bomb Bag (3)

Alternatively, each skull can also be sold for 30 Rupees each if you need some cash in a pinch. They can be sold to Rupin in his house in Skyloft at night.
