Rotating furniture and objects in The Sims 4 is incredibly important if you want to get the interior of your house looking just right, or in order to cram an item you really want into the perfect spot. The Sims 4 isn’t just about living out fantasy lives and wrecking havoc on unsuspecting sims. It’s also about building your dream house or dungeon of torture! You’re going to want to make sure all the furniture and objects fit and face the correct way, of course, and you can attain this goal by rotating!
Rotate Objects and Furniture in The Sims 4 on PC
To rotate anything, make sure it is selected and ready to be placed in the world, but don’t place it. Instead, hit either the comma (,) key, period (.) key, or your right mouse button to rotate the object. Comma is to rotate it left, period is to rotate it right, and your right mouse button will just go clockwise as many times as you click it. It’s very handy to have two ways to do it, even if you’re used to the old school way of holding left mouse button and dragging!
Here’s another quick trick for you, hold down the Alt button while you’re placing an object to shift it ever so slightly to the edges of the area it can be placed within. This doesn’t work for everything, but it can make end tables look a lot better, for example.
Rotating Objects & Furniture on Consoles
If you’re playing The Sims 4 on either Xbox or PlayStation, you’ll need to select the item in build mode that you want to rotate clockwise and then press R1 on PS4 or RB on Xbox One.
To rotate the item counter-clockwise, press L1/ LB. Now you’re all set to get your feng shui on!
