Not too far into Sifu, you’ll run into a large enemy variant. Instead of being quick and combo-focused, these big guys bring the hurt with powerful hits, including throws that take out half your health bar when you get caught in them.

Time needed: 1 minute

How to Block & Avoid Throws in Sifu:

  1. When both big enemy’s arms start to glow, they’re getting ready to try and throw you.

If you don’t avoid this attack, it’ll instantly deplete half of your health.

  2. Press L1 + down on the left stick simultaneously to block/parry the throw.

Just like with other attacks, you need to time this perfectly, or else it won’t work.

  3. You can also press R2 to dodge or hold it down to run.

This tends to be the worse of the two options, as the big enemies only initiate throws when you’re close, so you’ll likely get caught because of their big reach.
