How to Heal & Restore Health in Sekiro
With Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice being the new action game by FromSoftware, you can expect the action to be very tough, even with the removal of the stamina bar from the Souls games. You’re going to want to know how to restore your health on your quest. Here’s how to heal and restore health in Sekiro.
Much like in FromSoftware’s other games, there are a few different ways to restore health in Sekiro, most of which are similar to the previous titles in terms of idea, but with different names. Below are the main ways to heal in the game.
Healing Gourds in Sekiro
The first and main way to heal in Sekiro is by using your Healing Gourd. You select them using the left and right buttons on the d-pad, then press up to use it once you’ve cycled to it.
The charges of your Healing Gourd can be restored when you rest at a Sculptor’s Idol, allowing you to use them again whenever you need to.
Upgrading the Healing Gourd
You can upgrade the Healing Gourd to increase the number uses available by giving Gourd Seeds to Lady Emma at the Dilapidated Temple.
In our time with Sekiro so far, we’ve found one Gourd Seed from killing the first mini-boss in the game, who’s located right after the Outskirts Wall – Gate Path Sculptor’s Idol. It’s likely that you’ll get more for bosses and mini-bosses you kill throughout the game.
Gourd Seeds can also be obtained from Memorial Mob vendors, two of which are located at the Abandoned Dungeon Entrance and up the stairs near Ashina Castle Gate, where you fought Gyobu.
Other Health Items
If you don’t have any charges left, you can also heal or restore your health in Sekiro by using a consumable recovery item called Medicinal Pellets. They don’t quite have the same effect as Healing Gourds, so should be used when in dire need, but they’re there nonetheless.
They are also accessed by pressing left and right on the d-pad to shuffle through your inventory and you also press up to use one. Do note, though, that you can only carry three Medicinal Pellets at once.
