Sea of Thieves: How to Steer Your Ship

How to Steer Your Ship in Sea of Thieves

Recommended Videos

Sea of Thieves allows players the unique chance to enter the boots of a pirate in search of treasure scattered among the high seas. In order to get from island to island, you and your crew will have a handy vessel to sail in. What’s more is that you’ll have to know how to steer your ship, especially if you wind up encountering enemies on your journey.

Just like in real life, you’ll have to use the wheel in the back of the craft. Simply run up to it, latch on, and move your ship whichever direction you want with your thumbstick. Be warned that the controls are a bit floaty, meaning there’s some delay from what you input on your controller to what actually happens onscreen. This is to be expected, as you’re taking over a massive, hulking ship, after all.

Don’t let the new controls distract you from getting where you need to go in Sea of Thieves. A compass located by the wheel tells you whether you’re headed in the right direction, so it’s probably a good idea to be mindful of that.

That’s all you need to know about how to steer your ship in Sea of Thieves. For more tips, tricks, and information on Sea of Thieves, be sure to check out our ever-expanding wiki.
