In this guide, we’ll run you through what the Resident Evil Village weapon charm does, and how to remove it if it’s not to your liking.

Does the Mr. Raccoon Weapon Charm Do Anything?

In short, no, the Resident Evil Village weapon charm is just a cosmetic item that hangs from your weapon. It’s worth noting that while some have stated that the charm only hangs from your pistol, we’ve actually found it was automatically equipped to our shotgun.

For those unaware, Mr. Raccoon has featured as a collectible item in previous entries in the series. In Resi 8, Capcom opted not to include it as a collectible and instead created the weapon charm that dangles from your pistol.

If you pre-order the Deluxe Edition of the game or higher, you can also get a Mr. Everywhere weapon charm from the Duke. Similar to the Mr. Raccoon charm, this is just a cosmetic item that swings around when you have your gun out, and doesn’t actually serve any gameplay purpose.

Removing Weapon Charms in Resident Evil Village

To remove a weapon charm, go to ‘Options’ from the Main Menu and select the ‘Special’ tab. From here, change the ‘Display Weapon Charms’ setting to ‘Off.’

When you load up the game you’ll no longer see the weapon charm appearing on Ethan’s pistol, allowing you to focus on headshotting those zombies, lycans, and everything else that inhabits the mysterious village distraction-free.
