Resident Evil 7: How to Get to the Basement (Guest House)

How to Get to the Guest House Basement – Resident Evil 7

Recommended Videos

There are a lot of creepy areas in Resident Evil 7’s broken down plantation, however, one of most unsettling has to be the basement. Yet, getting to this area will require you to solve your first real puzzle in Resident Evil 7 so get ready to do some exploring. From the Guest House’s kitchen, make your way out into the hallway and head up the staircase to the second floor. Hang a right and you should see a tape recorder and VHS tape sitting on an old table. Take the tape and head back downstairs, making sure to take a right once you reach the bottom.

Travel down the hallway and enter the room on your right (the door will be closed) with the television and photos inside. Head over to the TV and hit the interact button. You will then be prompted to use the tape you found, which will send you back in time to play as a different Resident Evil 7 character. Go through the events until you reach the same room you’re located in the present and watch the television show host carefully. After some talking, he is going to pull a lever hidden in the fireplace that will open up a small hatch that heads to the basement.

After the video  ends, turn around and head over to the fireplace and crouch so that you can pull the same lever. After you interact, a small hatch will open in the wall next to you, and you can then proceed down into the basement. This area will become accessible via staircase later on, but given how little time you spend in the Guest House, it won’t really matter. Just make sure to not touch anything in the basement, who knows where all that stuff has been, right?
