Resident Evil 3: Can You Play as Carlos? Answered

resident evil 3 carlos

The remake of Resident Evil 3 has arrived, following in the footsteps of its predecessor (Resident Evil 2) coming to current-gen consoles last year. With some tweaks to the storyline, the gameplay, and of course, the visuals, Resident Evil 3 is the definitive way to experience this adventure through the streets of Raccoon City as Jill Valentine. With Carlos showing up in the original game, some players may be wondering whether you can play as Carlos in Resident Evil 3‘s Remake, too.

Playing as Carlos in Resident Evil 3

Fans will be delighted to hear that yes, you can play as Carlos in Resident Evil 3.

This will occur naturally as part of the story after you have escaped Downtown Raccoon City in the subway. At this point, you’ll take control of Carlos as he attempts to locate Dr. Bard.

This isn’t the first time you’ll have come across Carlos in Resident Evil 3, however, as he’ll have shown up before this to save Jill from Nemesis. You’ll have been controlling Jill at this point, so it’s not clear that you’ll eventually take control of Carlos if you’ve not played the original before.

What’s Different When Playing as Carlos?

Carlos will start out with an assault rifle that kinda trumps Jill’s original pistol for mowing down crowds of zombies in quick succession. This can also be upgraded as you progress through the game if you find the required components scattered around Raccoon City.

The other major difference between Carlos and Jill are their melee attacks. When playing as Jill, using your melee attack will see her swipe with her knife.

When playing as Carlos, you can actually press R1/ RB without holding L2/ LT and R2/ RT to perform a quick punch. This can be quite handy for giving yourself some extra time and space if you’re being swarmed by zombies.
