Resident Evil 3: All Weapon Upgrade Locations

When an entire city has become overrun with the walking dead, there’s one thing you absolutely need in abundance: firepower. Thankfully, as in previous games, there are a number of ways to upgrade your guns in Resident Evil 3 to give them extra punch. Here we’ll run through all weapon upgrade locations in Resident Evil 3.

All Weapon Upgrade Locations in Resident Evil 3

Resident Evil 3 features six different guns, but only four of them are actually upgradable: the handgun, shotgun, assault rifle, and magnum. Some weapons have multiple upgrades, while others have just one. Let’s run through it.

Handgun – All Weapon Upgrade Locations

Extended Magazine

This is found by stunning Nemesis and opening the supply case that he drops. You can read our guide on how to perform this here.

Dot Sight

You’ll get the laser sight by opening the safe in the Downtown area of the game. We have a detailed guide for that here, but for convenience the code is L9,R1,L8.

Shotgun – All Weapon Upgrade Locations

Tactical Shotgun Grip

The first shotgun upgrade is found by completing the Monument puzzle’s red jewel section (picking up a Fancy Box). We have a detailed guide for that here.

Semi-Auto Barrel

Found in the Kendo Gun Shop in the Downtown area.

Shell Holder

During the Underground Storage section of the game, you’ll need to lower a platform at the rear of the area to walk into a small nook that hides a case containing the Shell Holder.

Assault Rifle – All Weapon Upgrade Locations

Scope

Found in the West Office 1F room of the Police Station within a Storage Box. You will need the S.T.A.R.S ID key. Here is a guide on how to get the ID key.

Assault Rifle Grip

The grip is found in the hospital courtyard. To access the yard, drop down from a broken window on the 2F level.

Dual Magazine

Found in the Nurses Station room of the hospital in a safe. We have a detailed guide on what the code is, but for convenience, the combination is 9R, 3L.

Magnum – All Weapon Upgrade Locations

Extended Barrel

In the Surveillance Room of the Underground Storage area. It hides in the front corner of the room and is easy to miss.
