The Resident Evil 2 remake was released early last year to critical acclaim. The game features very intricate map design, and if you’re new to the game, it can take a while to get used to the layout. Here’s how to get to the Observation Room in Resident Evil 2.
How to Get to the Observation Room in Resident Evil 2
To get to the Observation Room as Leon or Claire, you’ll need to have progressed through the game a decent amount. Specifically, you need to have defeated G-Birkin’s first form in the basement and reach the parking garage.
Once you’re past the parking garage, you’ll be able to go back to the police station proper, which is where you can get the keys necessary to get into the Observation Room. For Leon, you need the Club Key. And for Claire, you’ll need the Heart Key.
Leon and the Club Key
With Leon, once you’re back in the police station, make sure you have the crank you got from the prison cells in your inventory, and head to the second floor of the east wing. Use the crank to lift up the metal grate and head up the stairs to the third floor.
From here, head out to the balcony and climb down the ladder. The ladder will break, but just continue downstairs to the Boiler Room. Next to the typewriter in the Boiler Room, you’ll see the Club Key taped to the whiteboard.

Grab it and you’ll be able to open the door to the Interrogation Room, which is on the first floor of the East Wing. From the Interrogation Room, you can hop over the broken glass window to enter the Observation Room.
Claire and the Heart Key
With Claire, you’ll use the Diamond Key from the Morgue to access the elevator that takes you back to the police station via Chief Irons’ office.
In his office, open the door to your right to enter a hallway that brings you to the Private Collection Room. In the corner, you’ll find the Lovers’ Portrait item. Examine it to get the Heart Key.

Now, you can exit the office and head downstairs to open up the Observation Room.
The Observation Room is completely optional, but it’s still a useful place to visit, especially if you’re on the first scenario with either Leon or Claire. You’ll get the S.T.A.R.S. USB drive which gives you access to the Lightning Hawk with Leon, and the Submachine Gun with Claire.
