How Long Resident Evil 2 Is
The Resident Evil 2 Remake delves back into the horrors of Raccoon City with a few new surprises waiting around every corner. Unlike the original game, fans are in for a much longer ride this time around. Here’s how long it takes to beat Resident Evil 2 for the PS4.
The original game was split into different sides, letting players experience the horror from both Leon and Claire’s perspective. Completing the main story would take you a little more than five hours, or around eight if you completed the other modes.
Resident Evil 2 for the PS4, however, offers a much longer playtime from the main story alone. During a recent interview, game director Kazunori Kadoi and producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi revealed that it should take around 10 hours to beat each character’s story.
Since there are two main characters, Leon and Claire, the PS4 remake should total to about 20 hours in total. That’s about more than half of the original game’s play time, and not even counting the 4th Survivor and Tofu Survivor modes unlocked after the main campaign.
During our first playthrough in the A scenario, it took us roughly six hours to complete. This was during Leon’s campaign alone, not counting Claire’s. Following this, subsequent A and B scenarios took roughly four or so hours to complete each. Completing the A and B campaigns for Leon and Claire took us around 18 hours in total.
That said, Capcom had already decided to dump the zapping system mechanic found in the original Resident Evil 2. It’s also worth noting that the remake won’t share the exact same narrative as the original game. While they will follow the same structure, we can probably expect a few different events and some other mix-ups.
