Red Dead Redemption 2 Lantern: Where to Find the Lantern

Where to Find the Lantern in Red Dead Redemption 2

Recommended Videos

At the very beginning of your adventure in Red Dead Redemption 2, you’ll have a bunch of gear already at your disposal. One such item is a lantern, which you’ll need if you want to complete the Poisonous Trail treasure hunt in Red Dead Redemption 2. It’s also handy for exploring particularly dark places at night. Problem is, it can be a little tricky to find. Here’s where to find the lantern in Red Dead Redemption 2.

Luckily, we’ve got some good news for you here. There’s no long, arduous quest that sees you traveling across the wild west in search of a rare lantern. Nor will you need to purchase one from a store with your hard-earned cash. Instead, the lantern is available as part of Arthur’s inventory from the very beginning of the game.

All you need to do is know how to access it and find it in your inventory.

To find the lantern, all you need to do is press L1 on PS4 or LB on Xbox One to open your inventory. Here, you’ll see all of your different weapons available to you, with the knife taking up the four o’clock position by default. Select it anyway with the right analog stick, and then press R2 or RT to switch between the other available options.

Voila! Your knife has now been replaced as a lantern, and you can now keep it highlighted and let go of L1 or LB for Arthur to equip it in Red Dead Redemption 2.

Outside of that, there’s really not a whole lot else you really need to know about the lantern in Red Dead Redemption 2. When it comes to using it… it just kinda lights up your surroundings as you’d expect. You don’t have to press any buttons, it just works.

When you want to put it away, simply select another item from your wheel, or press L1 or LB while holding it to put it away.

That’s literally all there is you need to know about where to find a lantern in Red Dead Redemption 2, as well as what you need to know to use it (nothing!). Who knew finding a light source in your inventory could be so darn confusing.
