Red Dead Redemption 2: How to Get to Mexico

How to Get to Mexico in Red Dead Redemption 2

Recommended Videos

Red Dead Redemption 2 takes place across five fictional US states, but there’s actually a way to glitch yourself into Mexico and explore a completely different country. Here’s how to get Mexico in Red Dead Redemption 2.

First, it should be noted that you’ll need to have completed the main storyline of Red Dead Redemption 2 to actually make the glitch work. Secondly, you should know that Mexico itself isn’t all that interesting: it’s largely just a massive desert area.

With that being said, if you’re determined to go and check it out, here’s how you go about doing so.

What you’ll need to do is head over to the most western point of New Austin. You’re looking for the body of water called Sea of Cornado, which is obviously marked on your map. Specifically, you want to arrive between the “N” and “A” in the name Cornado.

This lines you up with the exact spot that you’re going to need to find in order to make this glitch happen. Standing on the banks of the sea, look across the water and you’ll see a ravine on the other side. You’re aiming for that point, so hop on your horse and swim across.

Emerging on the other side, follow the ravine as far as it goes until you reach the very end. It should come together as a tip that’s just too high for you to jump up on. But this is the trick: you can actually get up there. All you need to do is aim your horse at the point and keep sprinting.

Eventually, the horse will sort of eject upward and this is where you need to hit the dismount button. You’ll now find yourself laying down on the ground just above your horse. From here, you’ll notice an invisible wall halting your progress. But just keep running forward.

You’ll breach the wall at some point, and Arthur (or John Marston) will slide down into the desert expanse ahead of him. Sadly, your horse won’t be coming along for the ride, so we advise that you spawn a new one in using a cheat code.

There’s only one notable building in Mexico and it’s quite far from this location, so you definitely do want a horse.

The most impressive feature in Mexico is an abandoned fort called El Presidio, which was a location that players explored in Red Dead Redemption. Quite why it appears here, we’re not sure. Could this be a future DLC or part of Red Dead Online?

That’s all you need to know about how to get to Mexico in Red Dead Redemption 2. For more useful information on the game, check out our wiki page.
