How to Do Chores Around Camp in Red Dead Redemption 2 & What They Do
Your gang’s camp is a pretty important place in Red Dead Redemption 2. Not just because a lot of your story missions can start off from here, but because there’re supplies for your adventure, a bed to rest in, and a number of upgrades that can be purchased to make things easier. However, if you’re going to indulge in the luxuries of your camp, you’ll also need to put in some elbow grease to keep your gang members happy. Here’s how to do chores around camp in Red Dead Redemption 2 and what it does.
How to Chop Wood
Chores in Red Dead Redemption 2 come in a variety of different forms, though none of them are exactly fun to do. To chop wood, all you need to do is look out for a little black circle marker on your map that corresponds with an axe in a tree stump next to a bunch of wooden logs.
Make your way over to this, and then press Triangle or Y to begin doing the chore.
To chop wood, it’s simply a case of pressing R2 or RT whenever the option is lit up in the bottom right corner of the screen. This’ll pop up every time Arthur grabs another chunk of wood to chop through. If you complete chopping all of the wood that’s there, Arthur will put the axe down and you’ll have completed the chore.
How to Carry Sacks & Hay
Again, to do this chore in Red Dead Redemption 2, you’re looking out for the little black dot on your map. It’ll be right by the wagons on the east side of your camp more than likely. Simply head over to them and press Triangle or Y to begin the chore.
This time, you’ll be tasked with carrying the sacks or hay stacks to different places around camp, marked on your map with a yellow marker. Drop the sacks in these places with Triangle or Y again, and the chore is done.
How to Top Up Water
Around the southeast section of your camp by two of the wagons, you’ll see another black blip on your map with some water buckets nearby. You’ll be tasked with using these to top up water in the different bins around the camp.
Press Triangle or Y to pick them up, walk over to the yellow blip icons on your map and press Triangle or Y once again to pour the water out.
Why You Should Do Chores
Chores in Red Dead Redemption 2, just as in real life, aren’t exactly fun to do. However, if you’re looking to gain yourself some honor and keep your fellow gang members happy, it’ll certainly do the trick.
After completing a chore (don’t cancel them), you’ll gain a bit of a boost to your honor, indicated by the little cowboy hat icon with a + next to it.
