How to Start a Posse in Red Dead Online
Red Dead Redemption 2’s online mode arrives with the beta early access period. Here’s how to start a posse in Red Dead Online.
Although it’s very much an online experience, the opening section of the mode doesn’t feel all that different from the single-player story. There’s a fairly lengthy prologue sequence that tees up a narrative to give context to your character’s journey across the Wild West.
It’s only once you get past that initial tutorial sequence that you’re presented with familiar multiplayer matchmaking menus and enter the online portion of the game properly. From here, you’ll be able to start your posse and begin your own adventure.
At any time, you can review or choose your posse by accessing the appropriate menu. Do this by hitting left on the d-pad, select Choose Posse. From here, press Square if you’re not in any posse to start your own.
When starting a new crew, you’ll notice that when you options when forming it from Type, Privacy, Friendly Fire, and Camp. These options allow you to tweak the multiplayer experience according to your preference.
It’s worth noting that you’ll occasionally be matched with other players for certain missions, which essentially serves as a temporary posse for that particular play sessions but will disband when the play-session ends. You have to make a persistent posse for it to be saved once you exit the game.
