Red Dead Online: How to Get Missions

How to Get Missions in Red Dead Online

Recommended Videos

Red Dead Online has finally arrived for PS4 and Xbox One players as part of its gradual, staggered launch. Players will be able to group up with friends or adventure on their own, with missions to complete, plenty of animals to hunt, rival gangs to take on, and much more. When you drop into the massive world, you may be wondering how to get missions in Red Dead Online.

Well, here’s what you need to know.

Red Dead Online actually has a pretty lengthy story mode, giving you plenty of content to work through right from the start. The very first time you load up Red Dead Online, you’ll immediately begin a tutorial, and won’t be able to just go exploring the world until you’ve completed it.

Fortunately, though, Red Dead Online’s tutorial also sets you off with its main missions, and any subsequent missions you can complete are indicated on your map with a yellow marker. Just like they were in the single-player section of the game.

These aren’t the only missions you can complete in Red Dead Online, though. If you take a look at your map, you’ll notice some pink ‘Stranger’ icons scattered around the map. If you head to these, you’ll be able to pick up some additional side missions which task you with completing a variety of different things.

Taking a look at your map will also highlight things like gang hideouts, horse racing series you can compete in, and rival gangs in case you wanted to just go and mess with them. Essentially, checking your map is your best bet for finding more missions and activities to do in Red Dead Online.

To open up your map, it’s simply a case of pressing the Options button on PS4 or the Menu button on Xbox One and then selecting ‘Map.’ You can then use the left analog stick to highlight the different icons you see on your map to gain more information on them.

That’s pretty much all you need to know to get more missions in Red Dead Online.
