Pokemon Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon: How to Get Shiny Pikachu (Surfing)

How to Get a Shiny Pikachu (Surfing) in Pokemon Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon

Recommended Videos

The elusive, shiny Pokemon have long been a staple to the game series, and there is, of course, a special one you can get in Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon: Surfing Pikachu. It can be quite a pain to get a shiny Pikachu of this variant, but you’ll be part of an elite few that have it. If you’re lucky.

In order to get a shiny Pikachu, you will first and foremost need to play the Mantine Surf mini-game. Here’s our in-depth guide on how to play it, by the way. It’s simply a game that plays after you select to surf from one island to the next. Keep going like this in order and you will unlock new moves that will help you reach a higher score. Beat the high score on all of the different Mantine Surf mini-games that you can possibly do, and you can collect that Surfing Pikachu!

Go to Heahea City and head to the surf shop, where the person there will give you a Surfing Pikachu. Now, the trick to getting the surfing shiny Pikachu (as well as with all other Pokemon) simply comes down to saving right before you talk to the owner and he gives you a Pikachu, and resetting your game if it’s not shiny. That’s it. You’re going to walk in, save your game, talk to him, get the Pikachu, check if it’s shiny, if it’s not it’s time to reset. You’re going to do this as many times as it takes until you finally get the shiny version.

Told you it was a lucky pain! Unfortunately, there doesn’t seem to be any other surefire way of getting a Shiny Pikachu in Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon. For more on the new Alolan adventures, be sure to search for Twinfinite.
