Cutting right to the chase, Pokemon Sword & Shield Isle of Armor’s download size comes in at about 1.1 GB. We’ve calculated by looking at the ‘Update Data’ size for Pokemon Sword on our Switch both before and after the Isle of Armor update. 1.1 GB was the difference.

This will actually come through as a standard update to whichever base game you’ve got – Sword or Shield. For those of us on staff, download times ranged between 10-20 minutes.

The update for The Isle of Armor went live earlier this morning on June 17 and was not available to download prior to this.

What’s New in Isle of Armor?

Isle of Armor sees players traveling to, you guessed it, an island that plays host to a Pokemon Trainer Dojo. There’s a story here involving two new characters called Honey and Mustard, but we’re not going to dive into the details and spoil it all for you here.

On top of that, Isle of Armor offers up what feels like an expansion of the Wild Area experience from the base games. You can also find some useful items like the Experience Charm which gives all XP earned to a single Pokemon in your party, as opposed to EXP Share that dishes out to your entire team.
