Join From the Wild Area

The Wild Area is a region in Galar that contains a style of gameplay akin to open world games. You can access the Wild Area for the first time shortly after boarding the train in Wedgehurst Station.

To join a Max Raid Battle in this area, you’ll need to approach any one of the many dens that emit tall beams of light. When you press A on the den, you’ll be able to choose whether or not to invite other players.

Up to four players can participate in the raid at once. Selecting Invite Others will have you wait as you’re grouped with three random trainers out in the world. The Don’t Invite Others option allows you to tackle the raid immediately with three AI teammates.

If you’re looking to play with friends, press + to set a Link Code, then select Invite Others. You’ll be able to take on the Dynamax Pokemon together if your friends have the same Link Code set.

Join From the Y-Comm Menu

The Y-Comm menu is a feature in the game that allows players to sort through all of their Internet-related options. To access it, simply press Y at any point during gameplay.

In order to join Max Raid Battles through this menu in Pokemon Sword & Shield, the first thing you’ll need to do is press + to connect to the Internet. This will cause all of the Y-Comm menu’s options to pop up.

Next, select Search Stamps, then Max Raid Battles. This will allow you to see which trainers are searching for a team to go up against a Dynamax Pokemon. You’ll be able to join the fight after choosing whichever invite you’d like to accept.

Those are all of the details on how to join Max Raid Battles in Pokemon Sword & Shield. If you’re looking for more tips on the game, check out our guides below:
