First off, you’ll likely want to know where you can get a Pumpkaboo. Its highest spawn rates tend to be on Route 4, Giant’s Mirror, or Hammerlocke Hills. However, in Sword and Shield, the types of Pokemon you find also depends on the weather in-game at that time.

Pumpkaboo’s spawn rate is always 10% on Route 4, and 25% on Giant’s Mirror regardless of the weather. At Hammerlocke Hills, however, you’ll want to head there when there’s a Thunderstorm. This should give you a 20% chance of a Lv. 29-31 Pumpkaboo popping up.

To then evolve your Pumpkaboo, all you need to do is trade it. The best way to do this is to get a friend of yours to simply trade a random Pokemon with you so you can send your Pumpkaboo and evolve it into Gourgeist, and then have them trade it back to you.

If you’re doing this locally with a friend, you can simply choose the Link Trade option and have them do the same thing. For those needing to trade online with a friend, you’ll need a Nintendo Switch Online subscription. You can check our guide on how to trade in Pokemon Sword and Shield here, should you need a hand.
