Pokemon Sword & Shield adds a brand new region and roster of Pokemon for fans to explore. Some well-known characters are also returning, but did the original water starter Pokemon make the cut? Find out everything you need to know about if you can get Squirtle in Pokemon Sword & Shield.
Can You Get Squirtle in Pokemon Sword & Shield?
Out of the three starter Pokemon, only one has made the cut. Unfortunately, Squirtle was not that Pokemon.
As such, neither Wartortle or Blastoise, the second and third evolutions of Squirtle, are in Pokemon Sword & Shield as well.
This time around, the game focuses on a brand new water-type: Sobble. This timid water lizard is known for being easy to spook, known for crying often, as well as turning invisible whenever it gets wet.
While it may be upsetting that Squirtle isn’t in the game, there are a handful of other Pokemon from earlier generations you can find throughout Sword & Shield.
If you’re still upset and trying to process, look over our piece “People vs. Charizard”. In this article, we go over the injustice Pokemon and Trainers alike have felt of the last few years, as a certain fire-lizard seemingly gets preferential treatment over other characters in the series.
No, Squirtle is not going to be available for either of the games. He also can’t be transferred over from Pokemon Go & Let’s Go either.
That is everything you need to know about if you can get Squirtle in Pokemon Sword & Shield.
