Pokemon Let’s Go: What the Shiny Encounter Rate Is

What the Shiny Encounter Rate Is in Pokemon Let’s Go

Recommended Videos

While Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu and Eevee are remakes of Pokemon Yellow, the new games have borrowed a few features from more recent games in the franchise. Here’s everything you need to know about what the shiny encounter rate is in Pokemon Let’s Go.

How to Get Shiny Pokemon

Just as they are in every other Pokemon game, shiny Pokemon are very rare in the new games. If you don’t know what they are, shiny Pokemon are simply different colored versions of their standard counterparts. For example, you can expect to see things like red Gyarados and bright orange Shellder.

All you need to do to get them is explore Kanto and hope that you run into one. If you walk into every Pokemon that’s out in the wild, as you would if you were trying to catch them, there’s a chance that it’ll be shiny.

Shiny Encounter Rate

According to Twitter user Kaphotics, the shiny encounter rate is the same as it was in the Generation 7 games, which was 1:4096.

Also, by looking at the game’s code, he was also able to work out that the more of a Pokemon you catch in a row, the more likely it is to be shiny.

Once you catch a couple of the same Pokemon in a row, you’ll see a note about a streak, which will be what the code is referring to and what helps find shiny variants. It’s not known exactly how it affects the shiny rate, however.

That’s everything you need to know about what the shiny encounter rate is in Pokemon Let’s Go. For more tips and tricks on the game, be sure to check out our Pokemon Let’s Go wiki guide. We have also listed some other helpful guides down below to get you started.
