Pokemon no longer automatically evolve through gaming experience in this game. Instead, you’ll need to manually choose when to trigger that transformation for every single one of your Pokemon that would normally evolve through leveling up.

Open up your Satchel menu and look at your list of Pokemon. If the Pokeball icon next to their name is glowing, that means the creature can evolve. Press the X button to trigger the evolution manually.

This new way to evolve your Pokemon is extremely useful, especially when compared to pressing a button every single time we wanted to stop an automatic evolution — whether it be because we like our unevolved Pokemon more, or maybe even because of better unevolved learn sets for moves. Now, that’s no longer an issue.

While regular evolution has changed, special evolutions have remained the same in that they will occur without manual activation. So, for example, if you use an evolution stone like a Thunderstone on an Eevee, it’ll still evolve right then and there. The same goes for other evolutions that require special items.

That’s everything you need to know about how to evolve your Pokemon in Pokemon Legends Arceus. Be sure to check out our guide wiki on the game for more tips, tricks, and other useful info if you’re looking for more pointers.
