Pokemon GO: Where to Find Lapras, and How to Get One Anywhere

Lapras is one of the rarest and most powerful Water Pokemon in Pokemon GO. Thankfully, this Pokemon’s locations are fairly easy to get to for almost anyone, but you will need to find specific areas to maximize your search efforts. It should be noted that Lapras can be hatched from a 10km egg, but this should be a last resort as you’re not guaranteed to obtain a high CP version.

When looking for Lapras, check around larger bodies of water such as rivers, lakes, and oceans as these seem to produce a higher rate of Water type Pokemon. This will help increase your base chances of running into a Lapras, although I’ve personally spotted two or three near some smaller creeks and another at a train station. This Pokemon isn’t limited to just bodies of water, but if you really want to add this powerful creature to your roster, stick to PokeStops near bodies of water.

Just like any other exceedingly rare Pokemon in Pokemon GO, set up shop around in highly concentrated PokeStop areas. Using Lure modules can help increase your chances of capturing rare Pokemon, and if you spot an area that’s using a Lure that you haven’t placed, try an Incense as well. The drop rate will stack if you are not the owner of the Lure, so this will highly up your rate for spotting a Lapras. Just make sure to use Razz Berries and Great/Ultra Balls when trying to actually capture this one. They can be terribly fickle and have a bad habit of running away after a few failed attempts.

If you happen to be in the Southern California area, you should also know Lapras tends to spawn near the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach, as well as other rare Pokemon including Dragonair, Porygon, Hitmonlee, and Dragonite.

With little bit of patience and some serious luck, you will add Lapras to your Pokemon GO collection. Looking for other Pokemon? Check out our ever-expanding Location Guide, and for everything else Pokemon GO, here’s our Ultimate Guide filled with everything you need to know.
