Legendary Pokemon Are Available in Pokemon GO!
The first Legendary Pokemon have been made available around the world for Pokemon GO. After the failed event that went down in Chicago, Niantic still decided to release the new feature to the world. After all, fans waited for over a year to finally have a chance to get one of these elusive beasts. However, the number that we got isn’t exactly what we were expecting, nor are the options that Niantic chose.
At the time of writing, there are only two Legendary Pokemon currently available: Lugia and Articuno. We’re not entirely sure why the developers went that route instead of giving us, say, the original Legendary Birds as a group, but it’s a start. And, in order to live up to their name, they aren’t easy to catch, so those you see with one have definitely earned it.
They’re Available Through Legendary Raids
Legendary Raids work pretty much like the standard raids in Pokemon GO, only they’re ruled by much stronger creatures. Currently, standard raid passes will get you right into the event when it goes live, but you can expect Legendary Passes to be required in the near future. It seems as though with the server strain the game recently suffered, the developers aren’t trying to overcomplicate anything.
The raids are timed events and require a lot of players working together to beat. You’ll get a notification for when they are scheduled (an egg will appear over a relatively nearby Gym and give you 48 hours to prepare). Upon victory, if you’re lucky enough to actually win, you’ll have an opportunity to actually catch the Legendary Pokemon. Keep in mind that they have among the lowest catch rates in all of Pokemon GO, so just because you win doesn’t mean you’re walking home with the grand prize. Bring some Master Balls and Golden Razz Berries to increase your chances.
When Will There Be More Legendary Pokemon in Pokemon GO?
That’s not something that anyone knows an answer to just yet. In the trailer that was released for the rollout of Legendary Pokemon in Pokemon GO, you can see Zapdos, Moltres, Articuno, Lugia, Ho-oh, and Mewtwo. That should mean that those are at least officially guaranteed to release some time in the future, though there are no set dates for where that future may lie. Still, it gives players something more to look forward to, as it’s clear that Niantic has some more monster in mind.
What we do know, however, is that Zapdos and Moltres shouldn’t be too far behind the two currently available legendary Pokemon. Niantic revealed that it would “make their way into the real world soon,” so now it’s just a case of waiting.
Of course, there are even more powerful monsters that have yet to receive any attention, and we can only hope that they too become part of the game. If all goes well, hopefully, we’ll be seeing them much sooner than a year’s time.
