Both Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl are available to preload from the Nintendo eShop now and have been available to do so since Nov. 12, 2021.

This only applies to those who have pre-ordered a digital version of the game and have made payment via the Nintendo eShop. Physical versions of the game will not be eligible for preloading.

How to Preload

  1. Go to the Nintendo eShop on your Nintendo Switch home screen.
  2. Search for Pokemon Brilliant Diamond or Pokemon Shining Pearl in the search bar, or go to the ‘Coming Soon’ section and select them.
  3. Choose the game you want to pre-order and preload.
  4. Select ‘Proceed to Purchase.’ Complete the payment options and once this has been completed, the game will automatically begin preloading. You can check the progress of the download from your Nintendo Switch’s home screen.

Both Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl have a file size of 6.7 GB.

With this in mind, ensure you’ve got enough free space on either your system’s internal memory or microSD card. You can check this by heading into your Switch’s system settings and going to the ‘Data Management’ option.

When Do Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl Unlock?

Once Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl have preloaded, you’ll then be able to start playing the game on the day of release at 12 am on Nov. 19, 2021.
