In order to battle Palkia or Dialga in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl, you’re going to need to progress to the late stage of the game. To be exact, it’ll be at the point where you’re able to enter Mt. Coronet in Oreburgh City and make the climb to its peak.

Once you reach Spear Pillar, you’ll need to defeat Team Galactic’s Mars, Saturn, and Cyrus. After beating them, you can fight and possibly capture one of these two legendary Pokemon. Pokemon Brilliant Diamond will get to battle Dialga, while Pokemon Shining Pearl players battle Palkia.

Keep in mind that you only get one shot at battling and capturing these Pokemon, so be sure you are read and save beforehand in case you mess up.
