How to Beat Gauss in Outriders

Start Reunion Mission

You’ll be given the Reunion mission right after saving Jakub. In Reunion, your objective is to fight your way over to a tower in the distance while taking out a large number of enemies along the way.

That tall tower is where you’ll be going head-to-head with the first main boss in Outriders, Gauss. Gauss is an Altered just like you, meaning he has supernatural powers at his disposal. All of his attacks have to do with electricity.

Fighting Gauss

One of the most important things to know when fighting any boss in Outriders, including Gauss, is that you can and should interrupt their actions whenever they’re charging powerful moves.

When an orange bar above Gauss’ head starts to fill up, that’s your cue to interrupt him with a move of your own. You can see this in the image above.

One of his most dangerous attacks, Lightning Storm, needs to be charged with the orange bar. Always interrupt this when you can, as it’ll make the fight much easier.

Each class actually has access to specific abilities that are meant to interrupt enemy attacks. You can see which abilities those are for your specific class by opening up your Skills menu.

When you aren’t interrupting him, you should try to shoot from a safe distance. Gauss has a gun that fires lightning, causing serious damage at close range. He’ll occasionally teleport to escape you, or get closer, but this shouldn’t be a problem if you keep some cover between the two of you.

He also sets up electric traps on the ground while throwing slow floating balls of lightning at you. These attacks can be carefully avoided as long as Gauss isn’t right up in your face.

That’s everything you need to know about how to beat Gauss in Outriders. He’s a tough boss, but if you can keep your distance and land your interrupts, you should defeat him in no time. Check out our Outriders guide wiki for more tips on the game.
