Can You Change Character Appearance in Octopath Traveler?
When it was first revealed as Project Octopath Traveler when we got our first look at the Nintendo Switch in early 2017, many people thought that, although the game looked beautiful, the name was really odd. However, as we learned more about the game over the following months, with it finally being confirmed as being named Octopath Traveler, the name made more sense. The Switch exclusive JRPG from Square Enix features stunning pixel-art visuals, an emotional soundtrack, and eight playable characters, each with their own journeys, hence the ‘Octopath’ part of the name. As you play as those eight characters, you might begin to wonder whether you can change their appearance, especially if one of them quickly becomes you favourite. Here’s everything you need to know about whether that is possible.
Unfortunately, there is no way for you to change your character’s appearance in Octopath Traveler. Each individual character has their own story, and their visual design is very deliberate. You can’t say that appearance plays a particularly big role in the story or gameplay, but considering how meticulous the design of the game is, it makes sense that you cannot change any element of your characters’ appearance. Of course, we can’t say for such that you will not be able to some time in the future, but Square Enix has insisted that there will be no DLC released for Octopath Traveler because they consider it to be a complete package. If that ever changes, however, as the ability to change a character’s appearance is introduced, we’ll be sure to update you here.
