How Many Players Can Play Together in No Man’s Sky
The No Man’s Sky NEXT update adds new lobbies that allow friends to directly join each other’s games easily like you would, well, most multiplayer games in 2018. You don’t have to follow any vague general galactic directions anymore to even get a glimpse of someone. You can join up, in their save file (or vice versa), help them do whatever it is they are doing, and bring your character with you. Whatever you find, you can keep as well. There’s a little suspension of belief needed since you’re going to be magically transported to wherever the person you’re joining on is, and then when you load back into your file you’ll be back where you were, but it’s a small price to pay for more far more convenient multiplayer function. You’ll see them in the flesh, running around in your No Man’s Sky universe.
If you’re here, you’re probably wondering how many players can play together in No Man’s Sky. As of the NEXT update, you can directly play in a lobby with up to three other players plus yourself. If you want to join up on a friend, at the main menu, opt to join instead of starting your own save file. From there, you can join anyone of your friends that are currently, actively, playing. Up to a maximum of four people can be logged into one save file. Alternatively, if you prefer, you can host by just starting your No Man’s Sky save as you normally would, and having them join up on you the same way you would join up on them. In this scenario, they would be in your No Man’s Sky save file, joining in on whatever it is you got going on.
