No Man’s Sky NEXT: How to Get Cobalt

How to Get Cobalt in No Man’s Sky NEXT

Recommended Videos

Nearly two years after the game initially launched, Hello Games has released a huge new update for No Man’s Sky, called the NEXT update. It brings with it a whole host of changes, including a visual overhaul, the ability to build structures wherever you would like on planets, and full co-op multiplayer. You can now head out on adventures across the near infinite number of planets, completing missions, searching for loot, or simply exploring. Of course, if you’re jumping back into No Man’s Sky for the NEXT update, or are new to the game entirely, you’re going to want to know how to get your hands on some of the vital resources. Cobalt is one of those important resources, and here’s everything you need to know about how to get it on your adventure in No Man’s Sky.

Cobalt should be quite easy to spot when you’re not far from it. It has a blue-ish tinge, so will stand out on most planets, and runs in veins that you need to mine. Unlike other resources, which you can often mine instantly, you’ll need a Terraforming Tool/Terrain Manipulator, which you’ll get from an early mission. Switching between your multi-tool firing mode, by pressing Triangle/Y, selecting the Terraforming Tool will allow you to reach the Cobalt that’s running through the ground. Caves are often a good place to find Cobalt, and you’ll likely see it in the rocks on the cave walls. Once you have the resource, you can use it for creating other things in No Man’s Sky, such as Ionized Cobalt, which can be very useful in certain missions.

That’s all you need to know about how to get Cobalt in No Man’s Sky NEXT. For more tips and tricks on the game, as well as the new NEXT update, be sure to check out our extensive wiki guide.
