No Man’s Sky: How to Use Hyperdrive

Using Hyperdrive – No Man’s Sky

Recommended Videos

In order to reach some of No Man’s Sky’s distant planets, you’re going to need the Hyperdrive. The Hyperdrive allows you to speed your way through the vast stretches of space in a much shorter time than the hours it would normally take. In fact, the game won’t even allow you to visit some planets until you get even the simplest version of the drive. Here’s how to use it once you’ve got your hands on one.

First off, you’ll want to open your galactic map when you’re flying in space by pressing down on your d-pad. From here, you’ll have the option to either set course for the star system you wish to go and explore, or you can choose to free fly and get basic information on these planets on your map without having to go to them directly.

If your Hyperdrive is charged, you can then select Engage. This will warp you to the star system or wherever it was that you selected to set course for. It’s important to note, however, that some locations are simply too far for the standard Hyperdrive, and will require you to upgrade it. Upgrades can be unlocked by acquiring their blueprints which can be found in a number of different ways in No Man’s Sky.
