One of the fun things about the combat of the original Nioh was that you could quickly swap between melee and ranged weapons, and you had easy access to them at all times. Bows and guns make a return in the sequel as well, and will definitely help to complement your play style. Here’s how to use ranged weapons in Nioh 2.
Using Ranged Weapons in Nioh 2
First things first, before you can even start using them, you’ll first need to acquire them. The good news is that you can get your very first longbow as early as in the first chapter of the story. While making your way through the abandoned village, it’s possible to get a longbow as a random drop from any of the human enemies.
Once you’ve picked it up, press the touchpad to bring up the menu, then go to the equipment tab. Under the ranged weapons option, select an empty slot and equip the longbow there.
From this point on, you’ll be able to pull out the longbow anytime you want. All you have to do is hold down the L2 button, then press the square button to fire an arrow. It’s worth noting that there are different ammo and arrow types in Nioh 2, and you can map them to different shortcuts on your hotbar.
Bows are generally faster than guns, but they deal less damage and have less stopping power. However, ranged weapons are overall still very effective for taking out weaker enemies at a distance, or for getting their attention and luring them over to you.
To recap, here’s how to use ranged weapons in Nioh 2:
- You can easily farm them from enemies in the game.
- Bring up the equipment menu with the touchpad button, then equip a bow or gun in your ranged weapon slot.
- Press and hold L2 to take aim, then hit the square button to fire.
