Nintendo Switch: How to Connect to Internet With an Ethernet Cable

Ethernet – Nintendo Switch

Recommended Videos

By default, the Nintendo Switch will try to connect to the internet wirelessly because it doesn’t actually have an Ethernet port. In order to get a wired connection, you’ll first need to purchase a LAN to USB adapter that can be found in most places such as Amazon, Best Buy, Target, Walmart, and more. Any place that sells electronics and computer supplies should have it available, and you can find them for relatively cheap online.

Once you have one, connect it to any of the three USB ports on the Nintendo Switch and then run an Ethernet cable from your modem to your console. Since it’s a wired connection, you won’t have to do anything else and it will connect to the internet instantly. It’s also worth noting that a wired connection with an Ethernet cable will often provide a more reliable and consistent connection as opposed to a wireless connection. With that in mind, if you’ve been having problems with wireless connections, it might be worth trying to connect your Switch online for the best experience. Now you’ll be able to download games and play with others with a wired connection. That’s all there is to it.
