Battery Life – Nintendo Switch
Nintendo’s upcoming console, the Switch, is just one week away from finally being available on store shelves, and this week saw the first slew of information and impressions do the rounds. With the Switch trying to bridge the gap between the home console and a portable handheld – offering premium console experiences on the go thanks to its tablet design -many will be wondering just how long you can expect to play the Nintendo Switch before its battery dies.
During the Nintendo Switch presentation in January, Nintendo announced that the Switch’s battery life would range from anywhere between 2.5 to 6.5 hours. Of course, using the system in the real-world can offer harbor differing results, hence the significant gap between both figures.
Well, with the Nintendo Switch now out in the wild, users are reporting that the Switch can be played in its portable mode for roughly two hours before the battery life is completely depleted. It’s worth noting that this usage time is when playing The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild on the Switch, and as this is an intensive game, suggests less-demanding experiences will fill in the higher bracket of the estimated range given by Nintendo.
While there will be ways for you to increase the battery life, such as reducing the screen brightness and turning on Airplane Mode, these may not be ideal sacrifices to make if you’re out and about.
Fortunately, players won’t have to wait long for their system to charge, though. Recharge times from early users are coming in at just over two hours for a full charge, and at least you can continue playing on your TV while you wait.
