Nier Replicant: How to Upgrade Weapons

nier replicant upgrade weapons

Nier Replicant is a spin-off from one of the endings of the original Drakengard, and has quickly taken on a life of its own. It’s still an action RPG at its core, and as you battle your way through the main story and optional side quests, you’ll also collect weapons and get to strengthen them as well. Here’s how to upgrade weapons in Nier Replicant.

Upgrading Weapons in Nier Replicant

It’s worth noting that you won’t be able to upgrade any of your weapons in Nier Replicant until you’re about partway through the first half of the game, when you make your way to the Junk Heap.

Here, you’ll find the Two Brothers Weaponry, and this is where you can turn in materials to make your weapons even stronger.

Each weapon can be strengthened up to level 4, and you need materials, as well as a small sum of money for each upgrade level. Simply talk to the brothers, choose the option to strengthen your weapons, then choose the weapon you want to upgrade and you’re all set.

Aside from just making your weapons deal more damage, every upgrade level also unlocks more of the weapon’s backstory, which is one of the main highlights of the Drakengard and Nier games.

While it’s not necessary to upgrade everything fully to unlock the true ending (you simply need to collect all weapons for that), the weapon stories are very well-written and are worth checking out if you’re willing to put in the time to farm resources for them.

That’s all you need to know about how to upgrade weapons in Nier Replicant. Be sure to search for Twinfinite or check our guide wiki for more tips and information on the game.
