Whether it’s for the sake of a side quest or because you want to upgrade your weapons, you’ll eventually need to figure out how to get Machine Oil in Nier Replicant. The only problem is, you have no idea which enemies drop this rare substance, let alone how you’re supposed to get them to drop it in large amounts.
Fortunately for you, we’re here to help. Below you’ll find details on which enemies drop this resource, how to trigger item drops from them and more.
How to Get Machine Oil in Nier Replicant
The only way to get Machine Oil in Nier Replicant is to kill the flying robotic enemies found in the Junk Heap. They’re the only flying enemy variant in this dungeon, so it’ll be impossible to mix them up with other enemies.
While they typically drop Broken Batteries when killed, they’ll also drop Machine Oil as their rare drop item. As the designation suggests though, the chances of the drop occurring are pretty slim.
To that end, you’ll want to increase your chances of rare items dropping by equipping the Mah line of words to your equipment. Said words include Mah, Mahza, and Mahzarr, and will increase enemies’ item drop rate by as much as 25 percent. The effect can be stacked too, so be sure to equip Mah words to your magic and abilities as well.
It won’t completely ensure you’ll get a good drop, and you’ll still need to kill a large number of enemies to get the number required for quests and weapon upgrades. However, it will increase the odds drastically in your favor, and hopefully cut down your time spent farming considerably.
