Completing the Heart of the Marsh Quest in New World

Heart of the Marsh is one of the side quests you can take on in New World, and it’s recommended that you level up to the mid-20s before taking it on. It can be accepted once you reach the Cutlass Keys region, and the initial quest steps are actually pretty straightforward.

You simply have to follow the markers to the designated areas, kill enemies to retrieve quest loot, then report back to the NPC to proceed. However, most players are having issues with the last step of the quest, which requires them to recover a diary from Jocelyn Marsh. We’ve indicated her location in the screenshot down below.

Head to the marker, and you might notice that there’s no one there and nothing to pick up. This is because you actually need to wait around for a mini-boss to spawn, kill it, then pick up the loot that it drops. The mini-boss can take about 10 minutes to spawn, though if there are more players waiting around in the area, that timer will drop significantly.

Players have also reported issues of the boss not spawning at all after waiting more than 10 minutes. This is more than likely a bug on Amazon’s side of things, and your best bet is to simply leave the quest be for now, and come back later as there doesn’t seem to be a proper fix for it.
