Increasing Engineering Level in New World

Engineering is one of the harder skills to level up, but we’re here to help you out. There are a whole bunch of trade skills you can level up in New World, and Engineering is one of the most important ones as it lets you craft important things like tools, musket cartridges, and arrows. Once you get into the housing system, you can also start crafting furniture to decorate your house with, and you can also craft repair kits to maintain your gear’s durability.

Cartridges and Arrows

By far the most efficient way to level up Engineering is to craft as many iron cartridges and iron arrows as you can. To do this, you’ll need iron ore, wood for timber and charcoal, saltpeter for gunpowder, and feathers for arrows. This method will also let you level up your Mining skill along the way.

What you want to do is find a spot with iron veins that you can mine easily, then get to work. We’ve got a guide here detailing how to find iron veins if you’re having trouble with that. For more specific directions, a good base to work out of is Monarch’s Bluffs. After exiting the settlement, the surrounding cliffs are full of iron veins that you can mine, along with mines with saltpeter.

Once your inventory is full of iron ore, go back to a settlement and smelt everything to get iron ingots, then go to the Workshop crafting station to craft cartridges or arrows. Cartridges require an additional step for crafting, but it’ll help level up your engineering a bit faster.

You’ll need saltpeter, which is typically found in mines, and is used to craft gunpowder.

On the other hand, feathers are much easier to obtain as there are turkeys pretty much everywhere; kill them and skin them for feathers, then chop wood and convert it to timber to craft iron arrows.

This method will still take a while, but bulk crafting cartridges and arrows seems to be the best way to get to level 50 for New World Engineering by far.

What Engineering Is Used For

As stated previously, New World Engineering is one of the more useful trade skills especially for crafters. At level 50, you’ll be able to craft steel tools, which are much more efficient for mining, logging, skinning, and harvesting. You can also add perks to them in the crafting process, which will enhance your trade skills even further.

Further increasing your Engineering level will then allow you to craft Starmetal tools, which allow for even more efficient mining and gathering. In addition to that, if you’re able to get some good perks on your Starmetal tools, you can also sell them on the market for huge amounts of gold.

That’s all you need to know about how to increase your Engineering level fast in New World. Be sure to check our guide wiki for more tips and information on the game.
