During the opening few hours of your adventure in New World, you’ll find yourself at First Light. This settlement will talk you through a lot of the basics including crafting, camping and choosing a faction. As part of the ‘Slow and Steady‘ crafting quest, you’ll need to get 40 stone, alongside wood and rawhide. While you’ll likely have already gathered the latter two on your way to the first settlement, you probably haven’t found any stone. Here’s where to find boulders and get stone in New World.
Finding Boulders Fast in New World
The fastest way to get the stone for the ‘Slow and Steady’ quest in New World is to look around the first settlement where you received the quest.
Here, you’ll find a number of larger rocks that are labelled as boulders. In our server, we found them on the nearby beach, but they could also be found in the more forest-like area more in-land, too. With your newly-obtained pickaxe equipped, simply walk over to them and press E to begin harvesting them for Stone.
You’ll get 12 Stone from each boulder you break down with your pickaxe, but if you just walk a little further down the beach, you’ll be sure to the four you’ll need to get the 40 stone to complete the gathering stage of the ‘Slow and Steady’ quest in New World.
Now, return to the first settlement and follow the quest markers to the various stations to convert your raw materials into crafting materials.
It’s worth pointing out that because each server’s map and opening settlement is slightly different, we can’t pinpoint you to an exact location that’ll work for you. We can show you what to look out for, however, which we’ve included above.
That’s everything you need to know on where to find boulders and how to get stone in New World. For more tips, tricks and guides, head over to our wiki, or see more of our coverage on the game below.
