Sometimes it can get pretty tough trying to get by a solid defender alone. In those moments, you should call on teammates for help. Using screens to score on offense is a basic concept, but it’s only useful to you if you know how to do it. Here’s how to use pick and rolls in NBA 2K22.
How to Use Pick and Rolls in NBA 2K22
Calling for a Pick
If your dribble moves just aren’t getting the job done in a 1-on-1 situation, it’s never a bad idea to call for some help. To call for a pick, simply hold the top-left shoulder button on your controller.
In NBA 2K22, the button to pick and roll will be L1 on PlayStation, LB on Xbox, or L on Nintendo Switch.
Holding the button will allow you to use the incoming pick in any way that you see fit, whether it be for an alley-oop setup or a drive to the basket.
Choosing the Side
There are multiple ways to adjust the pick and roll to your liking in NBA 2K22. This includes choosing which side that the pick is set on.
While holding down the shoulder button used to call for a pick, you can click the left stick to swap the side it’ll be set on. A small icon above the pick setter’s head will let you know where it’ll be set.
Pick and Fade
A pick and fade can be just as useful as a pick and roll, especially if your pick-setter is a good shooter. The pick and fade causes the pick setter to fade out of the way, instead of rolling towards the basket.
This move creates space in the key while setting up a good shot for the pick-setter. To perform a pick and fade, you’ll need to press the top-right shoulder button while holding down the one used to call for a pick.
That button will be R1 on PlayStation, RB on Xbox, and R on the Switch.
Slip Screen and Early Fade
Slip screens and early fades are the last of the options that you have when deciding what to do with a pick and roll in NBA 2K22.
A slip screen is when the pick-setter doesn’t set a solid pick, but instead, rolls towards the basket earlier than expected. The same concept applies for an early fade, and they can both be used to trick defenders if used wisely.
To perform a slip screen, press the call-for-pick button (L1/LB/L) again after you’ve already held it down. You’ll need to press it before the pick is set.
The early fade is performed the exact same way, except you’ll need to press the fade button (R1/RB/R) before pressing the call-for-pick button again.
That’s everything you need to know about how to use a pick and roll in NBA 2K22. If you want to be even trickier with your move set, you can also throw in a few fake passes with your pick and rolls.
