After beginning your quest across Calradia, there are a bunch of small groups of bandits you can engage with to get a feel for combat. The odds are stacked in your favor to take them out and gain a bit of experience and money, but you won’t always come out unscathed. So, you’ll want to know how to recover HP after taking damage. Here’s how to heal in Mount & Blade 2 Bannerlord.
How to Heal in Mount & Blade 2 Bannerlord
In Mount & Blade 2 Bannerlord, healing doesn’t work in the same way as it usually does in a typical RPG. You do not have access to healing items that can be consumed to restore health — not during battle and not even after a battle has been fought.
Any damage you take during a battle will remain until the end (there are perks you’ll be able to unlock later that allow you to heal other troops in combat — more on that later). You just have to fight through it. After a battle, however, you will heal automatically over time.
From the overworld map, look at the health icon in the bottom right-hand corner. You will see your HP percentage and if you hover over the icon you’ll notice the rate at which it is increasing. Note: it will only increase when you are on the move (the game pauses when you are not).
Since it is potentially dangerous and chews up consumable resources to constantly move across the map, consider visiting a village or town and choosing the option to wait there.
Increasing Health Recovery
Of course, Mount & Blade 2’s deep RPG mechanics allow players to upgrade the rate at which they heal. It also allows them to actually heal other party members in combat, too. Typically, these sorts of buffs and perks are associated with the Medicine skill tree. Pictured below is a basic perk that increases the rate at which your character heals.
That should give you a good understanding of how to heal in Mount & Blade 2 Bannerlord and what you can do to improve your capacity to heal yourself and other troops. For more useful tips and guides on the game, search Twinfinite.
