Does Monster Hunter World Have Microtransactions?
Monster Hunter World has finally arrived on PS4 and Xbox One, with players exploring lush and vibrant worlds on the hunt for giant monsters. The game has a heavy focus on loot, grinding, and character customization, and with loot boxes and microtransactions being the hot trend of video games at the moment, chances are you’re wondering if Monster Hunter has either of them.
Monster Hunter World does not offer microtransactions or loot boxes that would allow you to skip the grindy parts of the game for more equipment or materials. Having poured 55 hours into the game currently, we haven’t come across a single moment where the game tried to make us part ways with our hard-earned cash in order to get some cosmetic item (or otherwise). All gear upgrades are made through simply finding the necessary materials in-game, with no option to buy them as microtransactions.
This can make Monster Hunter World’s grind a little tedious, especially for those who aren’t the biggest fan of grind-focused titles. But stick with it and you’ll be rewarded with some heart-pumping battles and plenty of chances to explore magical worlds.
That said, the game does come with some cosmetic items that can be bought off PSN and the Xbox store. This includes face paint, new hairstyles, and different clothing. None of them have any impact on gameplay, however, so you don’t have to worry about other players having an advantage over you just because they shelled out some real cash.
